My Spring FabFitFun Box!

My Spring FabFitFun Box!

Christmas morning in April. That’s how it feels opening my FabFitFun box! I couldn’t wait to see which goodies were in my box. Here’s what I received and my review of each item ~

Sunnylife Lover’s Picnic Set – $30

In all honesty, this is something that I didn’t realize that I needed. It is so perfect for traveling or just heading to the beach. Hubby and I travel a good amount and this is going to be perfect when we are eating on the road. I’m not a fan of plastic utensils so the durability of these utensils is just what I need!

Manna Kadar Champagne Charcoal Scrub – $24

I have mixed feelings about this scrub, but probably because my skin is very sensitive. It will either make my skin super soft or red and dry. I think it is dependent on how much I scrub it onto my skin. It is more abrasive than most scrubs I have used, but does smell delicious. Worth the money in my opinion.

Ciaté London Extraordinary Translucent Setting Powder – $22

I love a good setting powder and this is it. It is lightweight and so blendable. I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything at all. Would highly recommend!

dr. brandt skincare needles no more® NO MORE BAGGAGE™ eye de-puffing gel – $42

I struggle hard core with bags under my eyes. There’s just not enough time in the day to get that much sleep… This gel is pricey for the size, but I think I’m hooked. It is so lightweight that you don’t feel it under your eyes. It can easily be applied underneath makeup. The only thing that I don’t like is the color of the gel… it is an ugly orange color, but blends into your skin clear.

OUAI Leave in Conditioner – $26

OBSESSED. I have curly hair and this helps with my frizz without making my hair oily. PLUS it is so easy to use. Just a spritz or two and you’re ready to go.

Show Me Your Mumu Brie Robe – $84

I LOVE ROBES. They’re just so comfy to wear around the house on Saturday mornings. I’m really enjoying this robe as it gets hotter outside and I can’t wear my heavier robes. AND it is just so cute. I’m not sure if I would have paid $84 for it, but it is definitely coming in handy.

Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons – $16

I’ll be honest here. I loved these, but I gave them away. They’re so cute and great quality, but the copper does not match my kitchen in any way. In my grey/silver toned house, they stuck out like a sore thumb. I wish I could have gotten them in silver, because they are really nice.

EleVen by Venus Jump Rope – $15

I was incredibly disappointed in this product. The quality is just awful. It is not worth the $15 at all. It is so cheaply made that I could probably find one at Walmart for $5 that would be better.

Overall, I am happy with my FabFitFun Box. I’m not as happy as I was with my Winter box, but when you compare the products received to the $50 paid, I count this as a win. I received $259 worth of products for $50! I still love FabFitFun despite being disappointed in the jump rope!

My Winter Fabfitfun Box!

My Winter Fabfitfun Box!

Is it really worth it?

I’ve seen these boxes all over my instagram for the past few years. I have always wondered if it was really worth the hype and if it was worth the money. I decided to finally take the plunge and try it out for myself.

If I’m being honest, upon opening the box it felt like Christmas morning. I couldn’t wait to see which goodies were in my individualized box. Some of the products are the same in every box, however some products are different. Depending on your level of membership, you can choose which ones make it into your box, but I loved not knowing and having the surprise factor.

Here is what was in my box!

Elevate Essential Oils – $31

I’m loving these scents! I normally wouldn’t spend this much money on essential oils. (I normally buy mine from Target.) However, you really could smell the quality in these oils. They are 100% natural pure grade and it shows!

BLAQ Eye Mask – $29

This may be my favorite product from the box. I always struggle with bags under my eyes. No matter how much sleep I get, they always seem to be there. These eye masks worked like actual magic. I kept them on for 5 minutes and there was already a noticeable difference. I can’t wait to see the difference after multiple uses.

Moroccan Gold Series Treatment Mask – $49

I’ve used a lot of Moroccan Gold Series products and have absolutely LOVED them all. They have all helped repair my colored and heat damaged hair. Because it is made with pure moroccan argan oil, the only thing I had to watch was how much I used it. Using these oil based products too frequently increased the amount of times that I had to wash my hair in a week. I would still highly recommend.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Meringue – $26

If you’re like me, you’re hesitant to put anything on your lips without know what is really in it. This brand of lipsticks are wonderful. They’re phenomenal quality and made without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. It has an expensive price tag, but well worth it.

Ahava Hydration Cream Mask – $33

Y’all are gonna want to jump on this mask fast because it is limited edition! My skin gets SO dry in the winter and this mask helped bring my skin back to normal in only 5 minutes!!!

ORIBE Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – $44

I use dry shampoo way more than I am willing to admit… It’s something everyone should have. I use it to freshen up my hair after a long flight, during a busy week when I just don’t have time, or on newly washed hair that is too soft to style. I’ve never used such expensive dry shampoo, so I did not know what to expect. Let me tell you. This dry shampoo was so light, I couldn’t even tell that my hair was dry shampooed. It didn’t give it that gross “whitish” tint, but left it looking fresh and natural. Due to the price tag, this is not something I’m going to buy regularly, but I was very surprised by the quality. I didn’t think dry shampoo could work that well.

PUR Be Your Selfie – $36

I would be lying if I said I was a makeup guru… I’m just blessed to have a best friend that is a makeup artist. But in all honesty, this palette is beautiful. The tones are the perfect balance of natural and sparkle. I love eye shadows that I can wear during the day as well as make pop for that night out. This palette is perfect for that. I’s also a wonderful size for traveling when you don’t want to bring that huge travel case like me.

Mark and Graham Colorblock Throw – $49

Available in two colors (as shown above). I was raised very frugal. Never in my life would I spend $49 on a throw. BUT HOLY COW IS THIS SOFT!!! It is so lightweight, but keeps me unbelievably warm on the couch. (I may just have to splurge for another!) This is also a GREAT gift idea.

Thrive Causemetics Brilliant Eye Brightener in Stella – $24

I’ll be honest. I’ve never used a highlighter pencil before… Let me tell you. This was revolutionary. I was worried about how well it was going to blend, but I think it actually worked better than the powder type. I’m also a sucker for champagne colored anything. The only thing that I will say about this is I wish it sparkled more, however it is good for every day wear.

Well, that’s it for my fabfitfun box. I was worried about whether or not I would really enjoy this box. Turns out, I LOVED it. I used all of the products and really enjoyed the high quality of each product. There was nothing that I didn’t enjoy.

All in all, the products I received totaled $321 if bought individually. With fabfitfun, I received all of this for $49.99. If you’re interested in trying out a fabfitfun box or gifting one this year, use my link here and the code “SANTABABY” for $10 off your box.

Hope you have enjoyed this review!

How My Husband Helped Me Love My Scars

How My Husband Helped Me Love My Scars

I want to love my body and myself as much as my husband does. That’s right. I said it. Let me be really honest with you for a few moments…

This morning I stood in the mirror beating myself up for the 10 lbs of newlywed weight I gained. (I partially blame hubby for taking me out on so many dates – love you honey!)

After a flood of negative thoughts rushed through my mind, without knowing, hubby found me in the closet getting ready for the day, wrapped his arms around me, and started telling me how beautiful I was as he kissed my makeup less face and ran his hands through my hair that at that point resembled a birds nest. He does this every morning without fail. I don’t even think he realizes he does it. He does it because he loves me.  But it got me thinking, what if I loved my body and myself as much as he does?

What if I wasn’t focused on being thin, but focused on giving my body what it needed – whether it be rest, a bubble bath, a good meal, or simply just grace after eating that slice of chocolate cake. What if I 100% accepted and even loved all of my imperfections? Somehow my husband can, but why can’t I? Now, I personally have pretty good self-acceptance, but something stops me when I see my scars from numerous surgeries or my stretch marks on my legs. Yet, somehow, my husband actually LOVES them.

One time… actually, no. MANY times I asked him how he could love something like stretch marks or scars. He simply answered “because it’s you”. He continued on to talk about how every stretch mark and scar makes me who I am today. (This was also one of the many moments when I knew this was the man I was going to marry!)

Those scars I have, they remind me of the pain I felt from those surgeries. But, they also remind me that it is because of those surgeries that I can run, jump, and dance my way through a wonderful life. It’s really all how you look at it. Sure, I’m reminded that it was a painful experience, but I’ve chosen not to dwell on it. Instead, I dwell on the outcome of those surgeries.

Today, in an effort to change my perception of myself, I self loved a bit. I wore an outfit that made me feel beautiful. I bought myself Starbucks at 3pm in the afternoon just cuz. I took 30 minutes out of my day to work out. I’m paying attention to what my body needs throughout the day. And now… I’m getting a glimpse of what my husband sees…AND I’m loving it. I think I may try this everyday.

My Winter Beauty Essentials

My Winter Beauty Essentials

If you are anything like me, the winter months are really rough on your skin. I have combination skin, but you wouldn’t know that in the winter because my skin gets SOOO dry. I’m constantly applying chap stick and exfoliating to try to combat what the weather does to my skin. This winter, I found some wonderful products that do wonders to help me keep that soft, smooth skin all year long.

Skinfix Foaming Clay Cleanser – $15

I’m obsessed with this cleanser. I wash my face with it prior to putting on my makeup and at night after taking off my makeup. My face felt noticeably softer after only one use! It is a soft clay that starts to foam when you apply it to your face. Just make sure you apply it to damp skin. Dry skin or overly wet skin do not work as well with this product. It is also awesome because it is made of 99% all natural ingredients! As someone with lots of allergies to chemicals, I love knowing what I am putting on my skin. It is dermatologist recommended, allergy tested, and pH balanced. It also contains NO sulfates, synthetic fragrance, soy, gluten, dairy, dyes, parabens, or phthalates. Definitely worth a try! I’m hooked.

Skinfix Eczema Soothing Body Cream – $20

I’ve always struggled with eczema on my arms since I was a little girl, however I use this cream for so much more than just my arms. I got hooked on it after seeing how smooth it made my arms this winter, so I decided to try it on my legs as well. Let me tell you, it works wonders!!! I was getting self conscious of my legs at the gym because my legs were so dry.  A few uses of this cream at night and my legs are back to being super soft! Because it is an eczema cream, it is clinically proven to relieve itching and irritation that is caused by both eczema and dry skin. It is 98% natural and contains NO fragrance, steroids, hydrocortisone, gluten, soy, parabens, or phthalates.

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator in Brown Sugar – $3

Everyone knows I love to do dark, dramatic or matte lips. Both of those are very hard to do when your lips are cracked. Dark colors and matte lipsticks show EVERYTHING! I found the miracle product to fix it though. AND it is only $3. Its a lip stick form, but it is actually a scrub. I apply it prior to putting on my makeup, leave it on for about 5 minutes while rubbing my lips together, and then wipe it off. Your lips will look so much healthier and a lot smoother. I still use chap stick every day on my lips, but this exfoliator is the real magic. I have no clue how I lived without it for so long!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my winter beauty essentials. If you try them out, I would love to hear your thoughts!

The Reality of Working Out in an Instagram World

Everything hurts, I can’t tell if this is sweat or tears, and I just really want Chick-fil-a.

One of my new year’s resolutions is to be honest and unapologetically me. I owe it to myself and I owe it to the wonderful people who have been following my journey.  Sadly, that doesn’t always look so pretty. It is so incredibly easy to hide behind Instagram filters and act like working out is something glamorous and that I look like a Victorias Secret Sport commercial at all times. I wish that was the reality. I think a lot of women wish that was.  Sadly, with social media, working out always looks so perfect. Every time I open the app there’s a beautiful picture of someone in a perfect workout outfit, barely breaking a sweat, lifting more than I weigh. I know where my security is in life, but still, those pictures can make anyone feel inadequate.  I’m here to tell you that you are not alone. Working out is not pretty and you definitely do not have to like it.

Truth is, I HATE working out. With a passion. I mean, look at my shirt. It literally says, “I hate running”. I require a partner to do anything other than cardio, I complain through out the entirety of the workout, and at the end I try to convince them to get McDonalds with me. Working out is NOT for me. It doesn’t look glamorous at all. In fact, my friends laugh at my incompetence when it comes to figuring out the machines. In fact, the other day, my best friend Meg turned around for two minutes to put something away and somehow I flew off of the machine onto the ground. Still not sure how that one happened…

With Instagram though, I could definitely fool you. While I’m not incredibly strong, I’m an active person and do a good amount of cardio. I could convince you that I love working out, that my outfit is always on point, and I’m not huffing and puffing after five minutes. But that would be wrong.

I want you all to know that what you see on Instagram isn’t reality. Working out is hard. I do it because I want to be the healthiest me I can be. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though. I struggle to go to the gym. I struggle to not compare myself to the fitness pages on Instagram. I struggle to remind myself that what I see on Instagram is a false reality. I want you all to know that you are not aloneFitness journeys are a struggle, especially when you love food as much as I do. Remember to not compare yourself to what you see on Instagram or any social media. You are a unique and beautiful individual. Focus on yourself and trying to be the healthiest, best you regardless of what the Instagram standard might be at the moment.

Redefining Beauty

fullsizerender_4Growing up, I always wanted to look exactly like the models in the magazines I read. Little did I know that those women didn’t even look like that. However, even though I would realize the unrealistic beauty standards set before me, I would still feel the need to try to reach them. Our perception of beauty has been skewed in media and altered with the power of photoshop.

Beauty has became a layer of makeup, perfect selfie lighting, and retouching an already flawless body. Let me tell you, I’m all about putting on some makeup and a cute dress for a night out… but when did it become unacceptable for women to bare their faces as is? When did beauty turn from all natural to anything but? If a woman wants to wear makeup, I fully support it, but why is it unacceptable if you don’t want to? My point is, our beauty standards need to be redefined, especially for young girls.

Ladies, embrace your natural, God given beauty. Don’t hide those freckles or those dimples. Enjoy being your unique and beautiful self. God only made one you. Don’t try to mask it in order to fit in. Choose makeups that highlight your natural features and don’t feel the need to follow every trend.

Based on what I have seen in the media, I believe we need to #redefinebeauty and it has to start somewhere. Beauty isn’t always just red carpet photos and being all dolled up. It can be a smile through a rough day. In an effort to encourage young women, I am posting this selfie to try to redefine our beauty standards. This was a Monday. It was a crazy day, second day hair, and I only had time for mascara. Despite all of that, I felt beautiful. Not because my makeup was “on fleek” but because I was simply and unapologetically me. I want that feeling for every young girl and woman out there. I encourage y’all to voice your opinions on redefining beauty as well.
